Running for Two Lights in the Dark: My London Marathon Challenge for Crohn's & Colitis and Guide Dogs.
Hi everyone,
I'm embarking on a journey that's a little crazier than most. On Sunday 21st April, I'll be pounding the pavement of the London Marathon – 26.2 miles of sweat, blisters, and (hopefully) triumphant tears. But this isn't just about pushing my body to the limit. It's about shining a light on two amazing causes that have given me the strength to face my own challenges: Crohn's & Colitis UK and Guide Dogs.
For those who don't know, I'm living with Crohn's disease, a chronic inflammatory bowel condition that's often as unpredictable as it is painful. It's thrown some brutal curveballs my way, but thankfully, Crohn's & Colitis UK is a charity that is there to support people like me .
Then there's my vision. Keratoconus, a progressive eye condition, slowly distorts my vision. But just like with Crohn's, I refuse to let it dim my spirit. That's where Guide Dogs come in. Their incredible work gives visually impaired people the gift of independence and security, empowering them to navigate life's obstacles with grace and determination.
So, I'm running for both lights in the dark – the invisible one and the one that guides so many. With every agonising step, every bead of sweat, I'm raising funds to help them continue their life-changing work.
Every penny you donate will be a beacon of hope, pushing me forward when the miles feel endless and the pain threatens to overwhelm. Imagine your contribution powering groundbreaking research into Crohn's and Colitis, or funding a life-changing guide dog partnership. That's the kind of impact you can make!
This isn't just about me crossing a finish line. It's about crossing boundaries, defying limitations, and proving that even amidst darkness, we can shine. Join me on this journey, be my virtual cheer squad, and help me illuminate the lives of others impacted by Crohn's, Colitis, and vision loss.
Together, we can run towards a brighter future, one step, one donation, one shared light at a time.
Thank you,
Martin
