Story
"Marks Old Boys" are riding in the 60-mile event of the Doddie'5 Challenge on the 8th of August 2021. The team of eight is made up of family and friends of Mark Cunningham who sadly lost his battle against Motor Neurone Disease in January 2021. Mark was a wonderful, much loved family man who was an inspiration to all who knew him.
A keen rugby player, Mark led from the front row with great physical and mental strength. He carried these qualities into his battle with the cruellest of conditions, Motor Neuron Disease. In memory of Mark, we want to raise money for the My Name'5 Doddie Foundation who were supportive to Mark and his family. Doddie would even call Mark personally for a chat which we know was very much appreciated by Mark. Please donate anything you can afford to help people and their families in future to be able to battle and finally conquer this dreadful condition.
My Name5 Doddie Foundation was established in November 2017 by Doddie Weir and close friends and supporters. Doddie was diagnosed with motor neuron disease in December 2016 and is committed to help find a cure for MND and support fellow sufferers.
The response to the launch of the Foundation has been incredible with thousands of people offering their help and support in a variety of innovative and enterprising ways.
The Foundation has raised more than £7 million in three years and already committed £4.5 million to research projects and in grants to support patients.
