Story
Many thanks for visiting our Royal Marines Iron Challenge (RMIC) team page, Team Marine 2021. We are delighted to be raising money to support our veterans. The event itself is one of the great sporting challenges in the UK, with the sea swim of 2.4 miles (3.8km), a bike ride of 112 miles (180km) and route along the coast path 26.2 of miles (42.2km). The RMIC is truly a "Full-Iron" challenge i.e. 140.6 miles or 226km.
It’s on Sunday 19th Sept; some will be doing the whole event while some will be undertaking "just" a single phase or leg: iron swim, iron bike, iron run. Such is the nature of the terrain though that the cycle alone is the equivalent of going from sea level to the summit of Ben Nevis twice, and the marathon the equivalent of running from sea level to the top of Scafell Pike - the tallest peak in England.
Every Royal Marines Iron Challenge team member will be doing their bit to raise money to support Royal Marines veterans, those who have received life altering injuries, and their dependents. It's our chance to give a little something back for those who have sacrificed so much for us. Every swim stroke, every turn of the pedals, and every step on the coast path, raises vital funds for the Royal Marines Charity to continue their work. We’re all training hard / frantically / nervously / ignoring it and hoping to puff our way through on the big day.
We even have individuals overseas who are undertaking individual phases of the event on the big day - the RM Iron Challenge team is truly a global community.
Please support us, and help to raise a decent sum on the 19th Sept. Every small donation helps - thanks so much.
