Story
Alex and Amy have decided to run a full distance marathon on October 24th to raise money for the Whitechaple centre, a local charity that works with homeless people all over the city.
Since Covid-19 the team at whitechapel have had to dramatically change their processes and systems, and have been unable to welcome visitors in to the centre for much needed help, wether it be for a warm meal, a shower or just for a chat. Quickly adapting to the situation the whitechapel team have managed to secure several temporary accomodation sites accross the city and get food and clothing to so many vunerable people.
Donations have dropped massively since lockdown, a lot of corperate events and fundraisers have been cancelled meaning the team at Whitechapel centre have had to work on an even lower budget than normal and had to work twice as hard.
Seeing people sleeping rough on the streets in the city we grew up in is something that really troubles us, and the Whitechapel centre are fighting at the heart of this problem to reduce homelessness and assist the most vunerable members of our society.
I work 7 days a week most weeks and Amy has just started her first year in university alongside a full time job, and we both have old injuries! We also both live at opposite ends of the city meaning training for this together in such a short amount of time is going to be really really hard. But at the end of it we get to go home and have a warm meal and sleep in our own beds, when others arent as fortunate.
Please donate if you can afford to and help us go a small way towards assisting a local charity continue their amazing work with a little bit of extra help.
Thank your for reading our story,
Alex an Amy
