Raising money for GiveDirectly and ANDYSMANCLUB

Story

On the 16th April, Simon and Joel Cockcroft will set off on running the 105 mile journey along the coast of Scotland in an attempt to conquer the Kintyre Way in 4 days.

The challenge is for 2 charities. ANDYSMANCLUB and GiveDirectly.

Please feel free to donate to either charity on the pages down below in the ‘team members’ section, but if you do not have a preference, please donate to the charity that currently has the lowest funds raised to try and keen them balanced.

Please click through to each of the fundraising pages in the ‘team members’ section to see what each charity does and why we are supporting them

Thank you so much for donations, whatever the size.

Andy's Man Club

We have both had to face our own battles with mental health over the last few years and want to help raise money for the cause. I (Simon) have seen the direct impact of ANDYSMANCLUB and believe it is an absolute life saver for men across the UK.

Suicide is the number 1 cause of death of men under 50. Isn’t that absolute insanity? The unfortunate reason men resort to this is that they are not good at talking with each other openly and actually expressing how they are feeling. ANDYSMANCLUB provides the opportunity for men to come together every Monday night and discuss whatever they need to in a confidential environment. I (Simon) have used this service and have seen men completely change even within the space of their first session there. This service is saving lives in the UK and absolute is worthy of being one of the supported charities for this fundraiser.

Give Directly

Giving money directly to people in poverty internationally is one of the most effective way of helping those people. There is a common misconception that this may lead to the money being wasted but research shows that this is not the case.

It turns out, people use cash on medicine; cows and goats and chickens; school fees; water; solar lights; tin roofs; irrigation; motorcycles to jumpstart taxi services; businesses to generate income; and more.

This way of donating puts money directly in the hands of those who have the best idea on how to help themselves so we believe it is a great charity to support to have the most impact with the money we raise
