‘Make Memories’
Clare and I are walking in memory of my parents, her mum and for me and my brother.
In 2017 I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer: I was called for an early mammogram at age 47, which led to my cancer being discovered. I consider myself incredibly lucky, as without the early mammogram, it’s unlikely my cancer would have been found.
In the same week, my brother was rushed to hospital for an emergency operation and was diagnosed with bowel cancer. He phoned me and said the doctors had told him that he may not make it, so he needed to make that call. He said "I love you and I love your kids". It was heart breaking. After losing both of our parents to cancer it was a difficult time for all of our family. Nobody wants cancer and I certainly didn't want my brother to have cancer but being able to go through my treatment with him by my side having his treatment was amazing.
