Story
Pine Tree Camp - in its 76th year of transforming lives of Maine children and adults with disabilities and Maine Grains' founders, Amber Lambke and Michael Scholz met while working summers there.
Pine Tree Camp responded nimbly to the pandemic in March of 2020, immediately providing outreach through online programs this Pine Tree Camp to You extended into six one-week themed virtual summer sessions. The unique Adventure Day Pass, providing covid-safe outings for campers and their families/caregivers, allow people with disabilities to continue to enjoy their favorite outdoor activities. Then, through creative and successful fundraising, Pine Tree Camp is now running all four seasons, a long-time goal!
For Summer of 2021, Camp staff have created two additional programs a stand-alone Adaptive Bike Program plus Family Camping. With all four of these new programs in place, Camp is opening up to hundreds more each season.
