Story
Hi everyone,
My names Holly and myself and my partner Innes are running a the GSR half on the 6th of October and my brother Callum is cycling 1234.4km from Cheshunt where our mum was born to Baldham where we grew up on a static bike over the course of October.
I am the fundraising assistant for the Marie Curie Glasgow Hospice and see every day how the work we do supports people living with terminal illness and those closest to them to live as well as possible.
Our amazing mum passed away on the 25th of October 2014 when I was only 14 years old and Callum was 20. For her 10 year anniversary we are challenging ourselves in memory of her. A little bit about my mum, she was beautiful, funny, an amazing cook and also incredibly kind. She would never back down from a fight and fought like hell to stay with us as long as she could.
Although we weren't supported by Marie Curie during our experience with cancer I can whole heartedly say I wish we were.
The Hospice is often very different from what people expect it is a warm, friendly space with beautiful gardens, delicious home-cooked food and personalized care. Every person is treated as an individual and helped to reach their goals and fulfil their wishes. A team of nurses, doctors, social workers, physiotherapists, chaplains, bereavement counsellors and pharmacists work together, putting every person at the centre of their care.
They can't do any of this without your support. Thank you for your generous donation which supports the Glasgow Hospice and Marie Curie across the UK.
With much love,
Holly, Callum & Innes
