Story
We have joined forces to run the London Marathon to raise money for Hft. They are a local charity that supports people with learning disabilities to lead interesting lives and access opportunities to have fun, enjoyment and challenge. Raising funds to help this happen for local people is a cause close to my heart. My son, Ben has a learning disability and it's clear that as he gets older, there are going to be obstacles and challenges for him to overcome. There are thousands of Ben's out there and as the years have gone by, more knowledge and understanding is starting to trickle into the world. Helen is running (as in properly running!) the marathon to support Hft and because she thinks the world of Ben.
Being able to support opportunities to work, develop and increase knowledge and skills can only be good and it will also help those in the wider communities understand that people with learning disabilities can be an asset and help you gain different perspectives.
The London Marathon will be my biggest challenge to date, however, it still won't come close to the challenges faced on a daily basis by the people we are raising money to support.
If you're feeling generous and would like to donate, then thank you very much, it is really appreciated and thoughtful of you.
