Story
My mum was sadly diagnosed with Alzheimers a few years a go. Anyone who has been effected, or impacted in anyway by this disease, will understand the effect it has not only on the the person they love, but also on all the people around them. I wanted to do something this year that would raise as much money as I could for this amazing charity who has also, like many charities, felt the true impact of the pandemic. As you all know I love a challenge but have always shyed away from doing a marathon. Too worried that it may end my running days, which are invaluable as a way of escaping, especially over the last few years. But this year felt the right year, and after the Berlin marathon was cancelled for british charity places, we some how managed to get a place at the London marathon. My Dad ran this around the same age as I am now, and I know would have loved that I am also now putting myself through the pain! Like a true my lovely friend Bethan, has agreed that we will share this one, and do everything we can to cross the line! We are both definetly the wrong side of 40, and just hope our bodies manage to survive the bloody long way we need to run! Any support at all, we will be grateful..
Every three minutes, someone develops dementia. We can beat it, but we cant do it alone. Alzheimer's Society is the UK's leading dementia charity. Until the day we find a cure, we will create a society where those affected by dementia are supported and accepted in their community. Every penny you donate is making sure we can be there for people affected by dementia.
