Story

I love my hair. And I love that it is the longest it has ever been. That makes it even harder to let it go.

Well here goes! There's no backing out now.

As I enter the last 6 months of my 3rd decade, I feel more passionately and more clearly than I ever have. I've learnt to do the things that make me happy and not just to make other people happy or because I feel I should. I've learnt how important it is to show the people you care about just how much you love them and need them in your life. I've learnt that no matter how introverted and independent I might be, I need people in my life. And I've learnt what I want to focus on to help make this world a better place when I leave it.

1. Improving children's education. 2. Protecting women and children from domestic abuse. 3. Protecting animal rights. 4. Protecting and improving the environment. 5. Supporting those with mental health issues and with chronic illness.

As I turn 30, I've decided to go big (and fucking scary) so it's all going. I'm shaving my hair off. All of it. I'm shaking and teary but I know it's what I want to do. I don't even look good with short hair (photos from 2016 will prove that) so I have no hopes that this is going to suit me. It will be December so my head is going to be freezing. So I'm going to need support. In whatever way you can provide it!

I have chosen 5 charities that align with the 5 areas: 1. Life skills education. 2. Refuge. 3. Secret World Wildlife Rescue. 4. Friends of the Earth. 5. Mental Health Foundation

As a bonus, I'll be donating as much of hair as possible to The Little Princess Trust so young people that have lost their hair can get a free wig.

This next bit is probably just because I'm delaying pressing enter but the plan is:

Saturday 17th December - last night out with my hair! It's going to be emotional and I want my hair to look amazing so I might have to get it done professionally :)

Sunday 18th December AM - wash, dry, cut, donate - send as much hair as possible to The Little Princess Trust

Sunday 18th December PM - the shave. I want recommendations on what hair styles I can try in the process of shaving it off. I'm offering the top donators to help shave my head. Location and time TBC.

Monday 19th December - my birthday, probably spent in tears so any distractions will be welcome.

I add... I don't want any birthday presents. Please donate any money you would spend on those to the charities. I mean it, please.

AARRGGHH Fuck it! YOLO!
