Story
In memory of my lovely Mum, Fiona Backler. 2025 marks 10 years since she passed away from bowel cancer, so it seems poignant to be running for her and to be supporting this fantastic charity again.
We’re the UK’s leading bowel cancer charity.
We fund targeted research, provide expert information and support to patients and their families, educate the public and professionals about the disease and campaign for early diagnosis and access to best treatment and care.
We’re here to stop people dying of bowel cancer.
And/or
During both of my pregnancies I suffered with a rare liver condition called intrahepatic cholestasis of pregnancy (ICP- also known as obstetric cholestasis) I was diagnosed a few weeks after the UK went into lockdown, while pregnant with my first baby and it was a huge shock. The charity ICP held online zoom calls during this time to support women like me, and it made me feel less alone and gave me the knowledge about the condition that I needed, in order to advocate for myself and my baby. I was also lucky to receive fantastic NHS care, with constant monitoring through both pregnancies, resulting in my two beautiful, healthy children. This fundraising is my way of thanking this charity for their support at what was quite a terrifying time.
