Story
September is Blood Cancer Awareness Month, and to show my support I’m taking on a sponsored walk to raise lifesaving funds for Anthony Nolan.
Following a diagnosis of Multiple Myeloma (an incurable type of blood cancer), I recently had a stem cell transplant (SCT). I was fortunate enough to have been able to use my stem cells for this procedure however not every type of blood cancer can be treated in this way and many people require an SCT where stem cells must used from a donor.
I am still very much recovering from the high dose chemotherapy and SCT, along with some long-term side effects. However on 12th September I will be walking as far as my legs will take me to raise money and encourage people to sign up to the register.
Anthony Nolan is the charity that makes lifesaving connections between people with blood cancer and incredible strangers ready to donate their stem cells.
For someone with blood cancer, a stem cell transplant could be their last chance of survival. Today, five people will start their search for a stranger to save their life.
It costs £40 to add each new potential donor to the Anthony Nolan stem cell register. Every new person on the register means another chance for someone to find their lifesaving match.
By donating to my page, you will be giving more people with blood cancer the chance of a future. Thank you.
Without you, there is no cure.
