Story
We, Liverpool Uni's women's rugby union, are tackling the Welsh 3 peaks challenge on April 22nd in 24 hours, raising money for the mental health charity, MIND! Climbing Snowdon, Cadair Idris, and and Pen y Fan. Challenging us with a total walking distance of 27.4km with a total ascent of 7657 ft.
Mind is a charity close to so many of our hearts. With so many young adults struggling with mental health, especially many of those at uni, we as a team are keen to support and help fund professional help for those in need. Therefore, we are walking for every team member, brother, sister, friend, or relative that is struggling with mental health! We have a strong ethos as a group to support and bring one another up, we thrive ourselves on being an inclusive supportive group.
Our committee member, Frances, recently lost a close friend, Mia. This loss was a huge shock and has impacted so many people. She was an incredibly caring, loving, fun person to be around who brought joy to everyone she met, her loss has left a huge gap in so many people’s lives. Anything we can do as a team to help prevent anyone else going through the pain Mia went through and the grief her family and friends are dealing with is important to us. This fundraiser is more than just a challenge to us, it’s about raising awareness and making a real difference. Even if we only help one person it would be so worth it.
All support and donations are welcome, please donate if you can and if not please just check on a friend, you never know what they are going through.
