Story
Myself and Dannii are planning to run the Brighton Marathon in order to raise funds in the memory of Tom and Rowan’s lovely mum, Caroline, who sadly passed away from MND in 2019.
We have seen first hand how this disease impacts all aspects of life and it would be a privilege to raise money for a charity that was able to provide Caroline and her family with support when it was needed.
For those who are not familiar with Motor neurone disease (MND), it is a progressive disease that attacks the motor neurones, or nerves, in the brain and spinal cord. This means messages gradually stop reaching muscles, which leads to weakness and wasting.
MND can affect how you walk, talk, eat, drink and breathe.
Although there is currently no cure for MND, symptoms can be managed and equipment provided to help achieve the best possible quality of life.
Equipment and care coordination can be expensive and add pressure to an already troubling situation. The money we raise can provide a variety of support and equipment such as tablets with specialist communication software - which we have personally seen the fundamental importance of this to ensure continued communication with loved ones.
Donations of any size will be gratefully received (or even just words of encouragement!)
Let the training commence! 🏃♀️🏅
