Story
Too many people spend their last days and hours alone, with no visitors.
The Anne Robson Trust want to ensure no one has to die alone.
They help hospitals set up teams of volunteer visitors for patients, and they run an end-of-life helpline.
Please help support their vital work providing companionship for people approaching the end of their life, and supporting their family members and loved ones.
Ben is about to be 80yrs & is going to challenge himself to a 3 x 80k charity “Triathlon”
Despite cracking a rib a fortnight or so ago & in competition with many worthy causes, as I approach my 80th birthday at the end of August, I intend challenging myself to complete 80 kilometres each of 1. Walking 2. Kayaking and 3. Cycling.
I am raising money for Torbay Lifeboat/RNLI and daughter Joanna’s (Jo) charity the Anne Robson Trust.
My intention is to keep it as coastal as possible.
1. Walk from Sidmouth to Brixham via Exmouth*, Teignmouth*, Torquay and Brixham*. * = Lifeboat Stations. This will start most likely on Sunday 24th July
2. Paddle up and down the Exeter Canal a few times and, weather, tides and safety boat allowing, coastal to Torquay and/or Brixham hopefully via a Lifeboat station or two. Most likely starting on Sunday 31st July
3. Cycle a couple of times round the Exe Estuary tail and finish in Torquay and/or Brixham.
Each of these should be about 80 kilometres (50 miles).
Naturally, I would appreciate as much support/funding/sponsorship as you can manage while appreciating that in these troublesome times it will be an uphill struggle, financially, mentally and physically!
Please note that to get the money to the Torbay Lifeboat funds I have teamed up with their “Kilimanjaro” effort!
