Story
On February 5th, my lovely mum, Katy Hill, lost her battle with cancer. She was an inspiration to everyone who knew her, facing her diagnosis with incredible strength and determination. We are heartbroken by her loss, but in her memory, I want to do something positive.
For those who knew my Mum, you'll remember her as a kind and caring person. She was also a nurse, dedicating many of her younger years to caring for others. To give someone the gift of a Macmillan nurse in her memory would be truly special.
On July 26th, alongside some of my closest family members, I will be taking on the Thames Path Mighty Hike—a 13-mile challenge—to honour my mum and raise vital funds for Macmillan Cancer Support.
My mum didn't live in the UK, and my dad cared for her full-time. Having witnessed firsthand the impact of cancer, I know how valuable a Macmillan nurse would have been—not just for my mum but for our entire family. These nurses provide essential medical, emotional, and practical support to those facing cancer, making an incredibly difficult time that little bit easier.
We are aiming to raise £3,250 as a team (£250 per person taking part), which could fund a Macmillan Nurse for 13 days, giving crucial support to patients and their loved ones.
Today, 3 million people in the UK are living with cancer. Macmillan’s goal is to be there for every single one of them, but they rely entirely on donations.
If you can, please donate—every contribution, big or small, makes a difference.
Thank you for your kindness and support, it honestly means the world!
