Story
I have decided to add a 6th and final event to my 2022 challenge!!
I have been fortunate (I think!) to secure a place in Ride London-Essex 2022 in May - a 100 mile bike ride starting on Victoria Embankment and finishing at Tower Bridge, with 65 miles through some of Essex’s most beautiful countryside and villages in between.
I am delighted to have successfully reached my fundraising target for Alzheimers Research from the first 5 events that I have committed to (linked to this page), I would like to support a second charity for the RideLondon event.
I have chosen Heart of Kent Hospice, as like many other charities they are really feeling the impact of the recent pandemic and urgently need funding in order to continue their amazing work.
"Heart of Kent Hospice are facing a funding crisis like never before and face the threat of closure without your support. Its difficult to live with a terminal illness, but the coronavirus epidemic has made it so much more frightening. Our doctors, nurses and support teams are continuing to help over 880 terminally ill patients and their families, both in their homes and in the Hospice Inpatient Unit. We need to raise £300,000 every month to provide this care and almost all of this comes from fundraising events, our charity shops, and donations. As you can imagine, with the cancellation of fundraising activities and the closure of our shops, most of this income has vanished overnight. We want to be there for you so right now, we need you to be there for us. Were making an urgent appeal to help save our services!"
