Story
Running the London Marathon has always been a dream of mine, and this year, by a stroke of luck, I secured a place through the ballot. While I could simply focus on crossing the finish line, I feel a deep sense of purpose to make this run about more than just my personal achievement. That’s why I’ve chosen to raise money for two causes that are incredibly close to my heart: Mind and Parkinson’s UK.
In our generation, the importance of mental well-being is more recognized than ever. Despite this awareness, many people still struggle in silence. Over the years, I’ve seen friends and loved ones deeply affected by mental health challenges. Their battles, often invisible to the outside world, have left a profound impact on me.
But my marathon journey is also dedicated to another cause that’s very personal to me: Parkinson’s UK. My grandad has been heavily affected by Parkinson’s disease, and witnessing his strength in the face of such a challenging illness has deeply influenced me. Parkinson’s is a progressive neurological condition that impacts movement and can have a profound effect on quality of life. Yet, it is often misunderstood and underrepresented in discussions about health.
Every step I take in the marathon will be fueled by the stories of those who have fought and continue to fight for their mental and physical health. This cause is not just about running; it’s about running for a better future, where mental health care is accessible, where Parkinson’s is better understood and treated, and where no one has to face their challenges alone.
Join me in supporting both Mind and Parkinson’s UK, and together, we can make a difference in the lives of those who need it most. Your support will help provide the resources, advocacy, and hope that so many rely on.
