JERRY'S LEGACY - RAISING AWARENESS AND FUNDRAISING FOR MND RESEARCH AND SUPPORT
This campaign is dedicated to the memory of Jeremy Thorpe, known to all as Jerry. He was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease (MND) in October 2019 and passed away in April 2021.
Jerry was passionate about raising awareness of MND. He wanted to leave a legacy to help others. He threw his energy and determination into a fundraising mission to assist in the quest to find a cure for MND and to help those facing the challenges of living with the disease.
If you would like to contribute towards Jerry’s legacy your support will be very much appreciated. Funds raised are allocated 50% towards the local Suffolk MND Group and 50% towards research initiatives aimed at finding a cure.
Jerry's campaign started when he put out a call on a local amateur football Facebook group page. He created the page in the Autumn of 2020 when he came across a load of football memorabilia as part of a declutter. It brought back memories of fantastic times on and off the football field with all those connected with the local football scene between 1975-2005. The Facebook page has gone from strength to strength - it's made people smile, the banter is great, the photos spark great memories and old friendships have been rekindled.
Jerry shared details of his MND journey with the Facebook group and they responded fantastically to his rallying call to help him raise awareness of this cruel disease, to raise funds to fund research into a cure and support people locally living with the disease. A fantastic race night was held - a fanzine produced - and Kevin Cunningham is about to do a skydive.
Your support for Jerry's legacy is very much appreciated and so very important in supporting the work of the MND Association.
Thank you
