Water...to the blessed ones, like you and ourselves, is readily available. So much so, that we often so easily take it for granted. We have so many choices available to us, tap, still, sparkling, flavoured. What about those less fortunate than us? To them, water and even more so clean water, is an absolute luxury.

This lack of clean water leads to waterborne diseases. According to WHO, every 2 minutes a child dies from an infection caused by lack of safe water and a clean environment.

Water is essential to improving health, hunger, poverty and education. In deprived parts of the world some have no choice but to drink dirty water, children miss out on their education because they spend their days fetching water for their families in the scorching heat

What can be done to bring about a change? The Ali Asghar Water Appeal (AAWA) strives to give vulnerable communities access to clean water and works towards long term water solutions in order to end a crisis which causes disease, hinders economies and restricts development. They aim to reduce the number of unnecessary deaths caused by poor sanitation and unsafe water.

On the Sunday 13th of September, we (the Jagani’s and Rahemani’s) are taking part in the SJ cycling sportive to Windsor to raise money for the AAWA. The ladies will be doing a 41 mile ride whilst the men do an extra loop and ride 54 miles. Our team: Kadhim Virani, Mazaheer Rajwani, The Jagani's; Siddika, Maasuma and Shabir. The Rahemani's: Sabiha, Zainab, Fatema, Shamim and Mohamedjaffer(Muna)
