In September 2024, the Jackson and Coates family are taking on a Mighty Hike of 26 miles along the beautiful Northumberland coastline. We are doing this to raise money to support people living with cancer. We have pledged to raise a minimum of £1250 together and would appreciate your support in reaching (and hopefully smashing) this target.

As a family, we have all been directly affected by cancer over the last few years. We lost our wonderful brother and uncle, Ian Jackson, to this terrible disease. As someone who loved the outdoors, Ian was pleased and proud we were able to complete a previous Mighty Hike in the Lake District in 2021 - and raise over £3000 for Macmillan. It is with him and other family members and friends in our thoughts, that we want to do more to help this brilliant charity.

James is of course also walking to honour the memory of his dad, so tragically taken just over a year ago. He is keen to raise money to support Macmillan as just one way of saying thank you and repaying some of the love and support he has received over the year.

We all want to show our ongoing support to Macmillan and help, in our own small way, those families whose lives are so deeply affected by cancer. By fundraising, we could pay for Macmillan Support Workers who could provide emotional, practical and financial advice to families affected by cancer.
