29 September 2024 - UPDATE
An early morning start with a Greggs bean, sausage and cheese slice to get us going. A 2.5hr ride through beautiful Ludlow before going cross country over the Shropshire Hills National Park and into Shrewsbury for coffee and flapjacks. The next 2 hrs took us along the back roads to Farndon where we had a delicious lunch at The Hare. 45-minutes later we arrive at our head office in Chester to a group welcome from our colleagues at ITC Travel Group. What an amazing four days and £2300 raised for Alzheimer's Research. What's the next challenge?

A crisp sunny start from Bristol this morning. Who would have known there were so many steep hills in one city. We crossed the Severn Bridge while Candice gave us even more support by joining the Severn Bridge Park Run. A beautiful ride through Wye Valley following the river. A coffee and cake stop was made in Monmouth before riding through the countryside (that means lots, I mean lots of hills) to Hereford for lunch. And then lots, I mean lots (you get the picture) of hills to Woofferton. One more day to go! Just another 75-miles.

After a hearty breakfast at The Three Swans in Hungerford we set off in the rain along the A4 towards Chippenham. It wasn't a pleasant ride with rain, head winds and dirty surface sprays from passing cars and lorries. Komoot, our mapping app thought it would be fun to divert us through the countryside up some nasty hills. After Chippenham we had lunch at the cutest pub in Ford, The White Hart Inn. Highly recommended. Fuelled up for the last part of today's ride, we endured an 8-mile climb to the enjoy the ride down the otherside to Bristol. A huge thank you to Doubletree at Hilton Bristol City Centre for giving us three rooms for free, plus drinks vouchers at the bar. Tomorrow is a big day. 75 miles and lots of hills.
26 September 2024 - UPDATE
Day one completed. We started in Farringdon at 7am. Thankfully the rain had stopped and we made it to Reading by 11am. A hearty Mexican Brunch for breakfast set us up for the next leg. Unfortunately, this time it was 🌧️ 🌧️ 🌧️. We made a stop in Newbury for a pint and hoping it would stop raining. It didn't so we continued to Hungerford, arriving 15:30.
On the 26th of September, Jack and David will set off on a 300-mile ride to Chester via Bristol. In Bristol, Jim will join us for the last two days. Each day we will ride an average of 75 miles. We are taking on this challenge to raise essential funds for Alzheimer's Research, the nominated charity at ITC Travel Group, chosen by our colleagues.
Why this route? We all work for ITC Travel Group and this ride links our three main hubs, London (Rainbow Tours and Inspiring Travel), Bristol (Regent Holidays), and Chester (Head Office).
Why Alzheimer's Research? Each year ITC Travel Group supports a charity, chosen by its employees. This year we are supporting Alzheimer's Research.
So far we have raised just over £1700, which has surpassed our original target, but it doesn't have to stop there.
By sponsoring our ride you will be helping Alzheimer’s Research raise essential funds for vital research into treatments, diagnosis, and prevention treatments.
Every 3 minutes dementia steals a happily ever after. Research is the only chance of changing the ending for people affected by dementia.
