Story
Chris Leek, “Dad”, sadly passed away at home on the 4th August aged 79, having bravely fought Parkinson’s and Dementia with Lewy Bodies (DLB) for over 7 years.
During that time, Dad was supported by Hospice at Home through St Richard's Hospice amongst many other special carers, enabling Mum to care for him at home, which was his wish. St Richard's cares for adults with a serious progressive illness, improving their quality of life from diagnosis, during treatment and to their last days, whilst also supporting their loved ones.
Dementia UK is a well known charity providing vital work supporting families facing dementia where they are struggling to cope.
Dad was never happier than when he was with his grandchildren, Luke, Ben, Holly and Daisy. Luke, lives with Sotos Syndrome, which is a condition that causes physical and mental developmental issues. Malvern Special Families is a charity that provides clubs and play schemes for children and young people with disabilities aged between 5 and 18 in ‘out of school’ hours in Malvern and in Worcester. This provides excellent social opportunities for the children and young people in a safe and stimulating environment, whilst also giving their families a short break from their caring duties.
You can choose to donate to one of the three charities mentioned by clicking on Donate to Team Member. You will then see that there are three entries that have the same team member name, but each one is for one of the three charities. Click on each one to see and select the charity that you would like to donate to.
All three charities mean a lot to Dad and to our family. Your donations in memory of Dad will be invaluable to all of them.
Thank you for your generosity.
