Story
In November Mum passed away following her battle with MND, a disease that is sadly more common than people realise. During Mum's battle with this dreadful disease she lived at Leckhampton Court, a Sue Ryder Hospice in Cheltenham. To say they were fantastic does not do them justice at all. The respect and care they treated Mum with was out of this world and her quality of life was preserved as long as possible there by the incredible staff.
During the Covid-19 pandemic, all charities have suffered a devastating loss of funds due to lack of fundraising opportunities available. Sue Ryder is a charity close to my heart, and the hearts of those close to Mum.
This is why, Erin and Eavie will be taking part in the Cheltenham 10k in September, whilst Clayton, George and I will be taking part in the Cheltenham Half Marathon.
It costs around £5.1million a year to run Leckhampton Court Hospice. With all their events cancelled in 2020 as well as so many of their community fundraising initiatives and the prolonged closure of their 450 high street shops, your support would provide much needed resources to keep palliative end of life care available to those who need it. Care for a single patient costs £21 an hour and Leckhampton Court is the only Inpatient Unit in Gloucestershire providing specialist palliative care. They are also playing a vital role in the Coronavirus effort and want to continue using their skills, expertise and experience to help in the months and years ahead and continue to relieve pressure on the NHS. We can't stop caring.
They are truly incredible people, and this is a small token of our eternal gratitude to them.
