InfraRed’s London to Sydney Virtual Charity Race

InfraRed’s staff are completing a virtual race against the clock to travel 16,983km from London to Sydney, in 6 weeks, starting on Monday 27th April. All staff will track their distance travelled during their daily exercise activity in the lockdown period.

WE MADE IT

Our virtual London to Sydney Charity Race concluded on Sunday, 7 June, with some impressive feats:

• Over 175 of the InfraRed team participated (both runners and walkers);

• We travelled the 16,983km distance between our London to Sydney offices, finishing three days before our six-week race against the clock; and

• With team’s hard work and the generosity and support from our business partners, families and friends, we have raised over £150,000 to help those whose lives have been severely impacted by COVID-19.

• FUNDRAISING

We have chosen to support a number of charities who are alleviating the impact of COVID-19 on health and well-being, which aligns with InfraRed’s values, our ethos as a responsible investor and our commitment to community engagement. The charities selected also reflects InfraRed’s global footprint by representing our six offices.

Our target is to raise at least £150,000 across UK and international charities. This will be supported by commitments from InfraRed and personal contributions from each of the InfraRed’s Managing Partners. If InfraRed’s staff achieve the goal of travelling the distance from London to Sydney in 6 weeks or less,

1. InfraRed will contribute £34,000 which will be dedicated to our International charities indicated below.

2. InfraRed's Managing Partners will contribute £66,000 which will be divided equally between Samaritans and Trussell Trust.

3. Our goal, however, is to raise much more than this with further commitments from InfraRed staff, friends, and well-wishers.

UK CHARITIES

We have selected two charities to support in the UK which are the focus of this JustGiving fundraising effort:

Samaritans Emergency Appeal - Samaritans are a nationwide charity that runs 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, who before COVID-19 were receiving calls for help every 6 seconds. Their helpline is currently experiencing a larger than ever number of calls; and their volunteers are working hard to reach all those who are struggling. They will be looking to use contributions to work on projects such as recruiting former volunteers, virtual training and new ways to be there.

Trussell Trust – The Trussell Trust is working to stop UK hunger and poverty. Its network of foodbanks provides emergency food and support to people in crisis. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the number of families and individuals receving support is larger than ever.
