Raising money for John Huntingdon's Charity and Stroke Association

Story

Thank you for sparing a few moments to take a look at our Just Giving team pages. Cerys and I are walking the Jurassic Coast Challenge in support of three fabulous charities - and it's actually her 23rd birthday!

Helen's story...

In 2021 both my father and father-in-law had falls and needed support. My dad, John, is 91 and living at home. My father-in-law, Peter, who will be 90 the day after the challenge, had a stroke and is now in a care home. In tribute to our two dads I'm planning to walk the Jurassic Coast Challenge, whilst raising money for John Huntingdon's Charity and The Stroke Association

Cerys' story...

Cerys is walking for #Willdoes, which is a local Dorset charity that supports young people to achieve wellbeing. As a Teaching Assistant in an SEND school Cerys understands the importance of young people being healthy in both the mind and body. Cerys is planning to walk the Jurassic Coast Challenge to raise funds and awareness for this brilliant charity.

The Jurassic Coast Challenge

The Jurassic Coast Challenge is a 100km walk on the spectacular World Heritage coastline in Dorset, starting at Corfe Castle, close to where we live. The route heads down to Swanage, and along through Lulworth Cove, past Durdle Door, with ups & downs to Weymouth at half way. On day 2 the route takes you past Portland Bill, Chesil Beach, and on to West Bay’s cliffs (of TV’s Broadchurch) – before a finish line celebration in the vibrant Dorset town of Bridport.

We're hoping to complete the full 100km over two days and would be very grateful for any support you feel you can give to these three fabulous charities.

John Huntingdon's Charity

JHC is based in Sawston, where I grew up and my parents still live. The charity was founded over 500 years ago when local landowners Joyce and John Huntingdon left three parcels of land to benefit directly the people of Sawston. Driven by John Huntingdon’s ambitions, they continue to use their resources to offer support flexibly for local people in need.

The Stroke Association

The Stroke Association support people to rebuild their lives after stroke and provide specialist support, fund critical research and campaign to make sure people affected by stroke get the very best care and support to rebuild their lives.

#Willdoes

#Willdoes helps young people achieve wellbeing by encouraging them to get active and engage in positive social interaction. By walking the Jurassic Coast I'm hoping to raise funds for the charity and also enjoy getting out to some of my favourite places along Dorset's amazing coastline.
