Story
This is the Harmony at Home team page (the team are pictured above). We are collectively fundraising with individual challenges like sky diving and wing walking for King's College Hospital Charity 'Transforming Live Care' Appea, run by the Kings Hospital Charity, set up re-write the future for children with liver disease. This Appeal and Charity have been chosen by Georgie Curties-Bilton, a member of our team who recently underwent a Liver transplant at Kings (pictured below left receiving an award from our Founder, Frankie Gray). We are also going to participate in the The Little Hospital Hike (sponsored walk) on Saturday 16 September 2023, to raise vital funds for Kings hospital.
Having been on a waiting list for a liver transplant for some time, a key member of our National Office team of recruiters, Georgie, got the call back in December 2022. We will be forever grateful to the team at Kings, in London for looking after Georgie and giving her the gift of a new liver. When Georgie received the call, it was such a monumental moment, and really made us all pause to take in just how precious life is, and just how grateful we are for our health, family, friends, and NHS.
It’s all too easy to get caught up in the busy day-to-day of life and work. What happened to Georgie gave us all a new perspective on work and life, and undoubtedly changed our attitude to what really matters most. With this, our commitment to support a charity as a network gained a new focus and we are therefore wholeheartedly supporting this fantastic charity upon Georgie’s recommendation. We will be supporting the patients and staff across King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust's five sites through volunteering and fundraising specifically donating to the TLC appeal which has been set up to transform liver care for children and young people.
Georgie says;
This is a charity very close to my heart. I was born with a liver disease and diagnosed when I was 16. I received my liver transplant in December 2022 which is life changing surgery for me. What is even more special is I received half a liver and the other half went to a child! I was a Nanny for 17 years and adored my career so to be able to share such a special and vital organ with a child is amazing. I will forever be grateful to my donor and to Kings for all the care and support they have given me and continue to give me in my journey of recovery.
