Story
“We make a living by what we get. We make a life by what we give.” – Winston S. Churchill
As many of you may know, Rob Vaughan, one of our Men’s players, is currently battling Testicular Cancer. Fortunately, his prognosis is very good but it has impressed upon many of us the fragility of our existence. Rob is keen to spread awareness of the disease as far as he can so that others, like him, can catch it early. Testicular cancer is the most common cancer in men between 14-44 years old, with 6 people being diagnosed every hour.
The Oddballs Foundation was founded in 2016 with the aim of raising Testicular Cancer awareness and they have now partnered with Jo’s Cervical Cancer Trust to promote awareness of Cervical Cancer. As a rugby club of young adults, we are in a prime position to spread the message of the Oddballs Foundation, not only by raising money for them but also educating each other about the early signs of cancer. By aiding the Foundation, we are both supporting a member of our club going through a hard time and potentially saving the lives of other Hammers. I hope that you all get behind a programme of fundraising has been established for the month of November with our online page being https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/hammerscharitymonth2021
