We support, motivate & empower young people to be the best versions of themselves

Story

The Hall School Triathlon Team and the Tour de Godwin cycle ride are both back in 2023 and raising money for Unitas Youth Zone in Barnet.

Unitas is a charity and a purpose built youth club based in Barnet that supports young people with three things they deserve and need: somewhere to go, something to do and someone to talk to. Young people deserve access to the best resources, facilities and opportunities so they can reach their highest potential. Unitas is an investment in North London's youth because they deserve the best, as well as being an investment in the future of Barnet itself. Unitas opened in 2019 and it rapidly became an essential social hub for over 6500 members.

As a team, we have set ourselves the challenge of raising money to support the sports provision at Unitas in both their fitness and boxing gyms. We all know what benefits there are in taking part in sport through the amazing opportunities our boys get at The Hall and we want to make sure that those who have much less are given the same opportunities to reach their potential.

Barnet is on our doorstep and yet over one third of its young people live in poverty.

The Hall School Triathlon Team is an ever changing and truly inspiring group of mums, dads, teachers, nannies and friends who come together in June each year at Blenheim Palace to compete in a sprint distance triathlon for a carefully chosen charity. Each year within the team there are returners - triathlon veterans for whom racing to raise money for a cause is an annual fixture. But the majority of the team comprises absolute beginners - not just first time triathletes, but novice runners (couch 2 5k really does work), those who have taken up swimming for the first time since childhood and even those for who riding a bike is a newly-acquired skill. Fitness and confidence are gained in equal measure within a supportive environment that has seen well over 100 women complete their first triathlon and hundreds of thousands of pounds raised for various charities.

In addition, the Headmaster of The Hall School leads a team of cyclists on the 100k or so ride from The Hall School in Belsize Park to Blenheim Palace on the morning of the triathlon in June (the so-called Tour de Godwin). The team (again dads, mums and friends of the Hall School) will arrive in time to cheer on the triathlon team.

Please donate either to the team page or to one of our team members. All donations will be paid directly to Unitas. We are grateful for ALL donations - however small - towards this life changing resource for North London's young people. Specifically, our donations will fund new sports equipment for Unitas.

And if you'd like to join us next year for either the triathlon or for the Tour de Godwin, get in touch!
