Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
We will be raising money in memory of Greg Lloyd who we lost suddenly on 20th August 2022 at just 51 years old.
Anyone who knew Greg, knows that he was the loveliest, most genuine man and was always willing to help other people. He always had a smile on his face 💙
To raise this money, there are around 120 of Greg’s friends, family members and colleagues running the Cardiff Half Marathon on October 1st 2023.
Greg was fit and healthy prior to the cardiac arrest which is another reason why it was such a shock to us all. He had completed the Cardiff Half Marathon a few times himself as well as the Snowdonia Marathon in 2019, and his job as a police officer also meant he was a very active man. He would love the fact that we are running this in his memory so we will do it for him 💙
Our fundraising efforts will allow the Heath hospital to carry out a new research project into Out of Hospital Cardiac Arrests (OOHCA) which will provide more answers into how and why this happens along with ways it can be treated and prevented.
Current research has shown that less than 1 in 10 people in the UK who experience an OOHCA survive which is something we are desperate to change. Greg’s family never want anyone else to experience what they have and the pain of losing someone so suddenly with no prior warning.
We are also fundraising to show our appreciation to the incredible staff at the Heath Hospital’s Critical Care Ward who gave Greg the best care and did all they could for him.
Any donation is greatly appreciated and will go towards saving other amazing lives.
Thank you all very much 💙

A message from Jade Cole, Lead Clinical Nurse Specialist for Critical Care Research…
”I hope we are able to reassure that any donation in honour of Greg, no matter the amount, would be put to very good use for research into the treatment of out of hospital cardiac arrest that could help others in the future.“
