Story
After a glass of wine on our last night together before being deployed to the other side of the world for 4 months, Graeme came up with the idea of an active challenge we could share whilst being apart (I blame the wine).
Why not cover the distance that separates Land's End and John o' Groats? That's the equivalent of crossing the whole length of Great Britain, on foot/by bike, in 120 days.
By the 7th of June, the date Graeme's deployment is supposed to end, we will have run, walked and/or cycled 1407 km (874 miles) "together", Graeme in the Falklands and Sara in the UK. That's basically a marathon a week, each... for the next 17 weeks, come rain or shine (or icy Antarctic winds, in Graeme's case).
Why? To give us something to look forward to (the closer we get to the finish line, the closer we get to being reunited), keep us active and raise money for a great cause.
We have both lost one parent each to cancer, so we are raising money for Cancer Research. The pandemic has had a devastating effect on fundraising events, so we want to do our bit to help prevent other people from going through the pain of losing a loved one to this terrible disease.
Our progress will be updated regularly on our combined map, so you can follow our journey and see how far we've got.
Join us on our crazy transcontinental challenge, your support truly means the world to us!
