Story
I've created this team to support CASBA Advocacy in its first-ever fundraising campaign '500 Miles in May' so CASBA can provide more 1:1 advocacy support to more people who need it.
So to help them give the gift of independence to more people, I'm doing 10,000 steps a day and will do just over 150 miles during the month. So I wanted to do a bit more, so I've roped my Mum in. She's 84 this month.
Over lockdown, she had a new hip after waiting over a year. Then she got the other one done and last February she had a knee done. So she needs a bit of help to get out and about so I thought this would be just the thing for her and she's agreed. Her targets are:
1 walk to the paper shop and get her own paper 5000 steps
2 walk to the allotment for her birthday party 15,000
Last week, she did her biggest walk yet, 936 steps. If you can encourage her in her challenge by sponsoring her, that'd be amazing!
CASBA believes that everyone has the right to live an independent and fulfilling life where their rights are recognised and they can make their own choices. CASBA helps citizens with Learning Disabilities to get their voices heard and overcome the barriers to living independently.
Along with many others, I believe passionately in helping CASBA achieve this, so please sponsor my Mum and help our team reach our goal to help give the gift of independence to more people.
