Story
Becca, a 38 year old mother from Bristol, was diagnosed with Breast Cancer in May 2024. The word we never want to hear; the fear of wondering how her little boy would cope without her. This is her words, about how much Macmillan had such an impact on her journey:
'Having Cancer really really sucks! It's not the Chemo, losing your hair, strength, ability to taste; all the generic things you know about.
It's struggling to do simple tasks for yourself and your family. I have always been so fiercely independent, I've never been able to ask for help.
The nurses at Macmillan were so fantastic; they had me sussed! They picked up all the administration tasks, and the chaos of seeking advice, down to being allergic to things that never bothered me before. They are a huge help that you don't initially think you will ever need. They advocate for you and with Drs, during appointment when you are exhausted- physically and mentally- when you don't have the energy to fight alone. They remember your kids names, and remember the little things you'd forgotten you even told them.
I'm so incredibly lucky, to have my husband and my little boy at home. But I also have 13 incredible friends willing to hike 13 miles to help me raise funds for this incredible charity.
Please donate if you can- you have no idea what it would mean to me.'
