Story
Our amazing friend Andrea and her equally amazing sister Cathy are undertaking a mammoth cycling challenge in June in an effort to raise £60k for NIPANC and awareness of pancreatic cancer. This silent killer took Andrea’s husband Paddy last July and Cathy’s friend Natalie in 2017. Andrea and Cathy are fighting back and on 9th June will be doing a non-stop cycle pedalling the periphery of NI …. a staggering 480 miles in 48hrs…. with all funds donated going to local charity NIPANC.
Now…this is where we come in… while we all obviously have the basic core fitness to join Andrea and Cathy’s pedaltheperiphery, we don't think it’d be fair to come in ahead of them at the end of the cycle…. And there’s also the small matter of one of us not having passed their cycling proficiency test ….. soooo, we’ve decided to do a walking challenge instead as a satellite fundraiser for #pedaltheperiphery and on Sunday 28th May will be walking from Donaghdee to The Dirty Duck in Holywood…. Bubble is still to measure the exact distance with his measuring wheel but we’re informed by the much less reliable Google that it will be between 15 and 17 miles (So like about 1/32nd of the periphery of NI…..which sounds perfectly adequate to moi!)
We would be so grateful for any donations you can make to help raise funds to support NIPANC’s vital research and awareness raising of the early symptoms of this dreadful disease which has stolen loved ones from Andrea and Cathy and from many other friends and others in the wider NI community.
Donations for our walking challenge will be added to the girl’s fundraising total as they keep plugging….and pedalling….to get to the £60k total!
Thank you all.
