We are members of Romsey Ukraine Support Group Walking the Test Way on 27 September as a team to raise funds for buying generators for Ukraine. With another long, harsh winter approaching, and with continuing power outages as a result of attacks on the energy infrastructure, these small and highly efficient generators provide a vital alternative source of power, light and warmth for families and communities in Ukraine. They are transported to the country by New Forest for Ukraine whose well-organised distribution network ensures that the generators reach the points of greatest need. Each generator costs £220, including transport costs. Our group's target is to send 25 generators to Ukraine by the end of the year. We have funded 7 already and we aim to raise enough when we Walk the Test Way on 27 September to send at least a further 7 (£1540).

Latest news: WE DID IT! Six of us plus Barney the dog completed the 12 miles from Stockbridge to Romsey in five hours. The photo is of us ready to set off at the start of the walk. The final hour or so was walking in light rain so we reached the finish in a rather more bedraggled state!

We're delighted that we've easily exceeded our initial fundraising target and have currently raised enough to buy 10 generators to send to Ukraine. On top of the 7 we had previously funded this means that we're well on target to achieve our goal of sending 25 generators out to Ukraine by the end of the year.
