Story
Both Guy and Katherine have been keen to take part in a fundraising activity since their father Kevin Freeman was unfortunately diagnosed with Alzheimer’s in 2014. Once we found this challenge we were delighted that more of the Freeman clan (one of whom had a baby in Oct!!!) were keen to get involved and help raise money for a worthy cause.
The Alzheimer’s society provide a huge amount of support and advice to anyone affected by Alzheimer’s, we have used it for a variety of needs such as for guidance to identify the different stages of Alzheimer’s, what to expect as Alzheimer’s progresses, as well as more practical advice such as what state help is available.
With an ageing population and increasing numbers of people suffering from Alzheimer’s we wanted to support a group that has supported us and continues to do so.
We feel very lucky that our Dad seems to be in a contented stage of the disease in that he has never become aggressive or angry towards us or his carers, he has maintained his Freeman sense of humour which means that while he may get our names wrong we still catch glimpses of his wonderful character. Alzheimer’s is a horrid disease which robs its sufferers of their memories, dignity and ultimately their life and we ask you to support our efforts in raising money for the Alzheimer’s society so they may continue the fight against the disease whilst supporting people most affected by it.
Thank you for reading this and any support you can offer.
