Story
John Buckenham (Gramps) used to tell us: “Never run so fast down the street that you forget to smell the flowers.”
For Gramps we will be walking the Alzheimer’s Memory Walk on Friday 13th March and hopefully smell some flowers along the way.
Gramps passed away over Christmas. In his final years he showed great dignity and resilience as many of his physical and cognitive capabilities deteriorated due to Alzheimer's disease, a form of dementia. However, he never lost his humour, thoughtfulness or spirit, and it didn’t take much to encourage him to walk to a chair in the garden as long as there was a glass of wine, company and a view at the end.
If any of that spirit appeals to you, please do join us for the Memory Walk. Otherwise any donation would be greatly appreciated in order to support the wide range of work Alzheimer's Society do in funding research, providing advice and offering ongoing support for people living with dementia and their carers.

Around 225,000 people develop dementia every year, that's the equivalent to one person every three minutes. This September and October Memory Walks will be taking place across England, Wales and Northern Ireland to raise money for a world without dementia. Once you donate, JustGiving will send your money directly to Alzheimer's Society.
