Story
I'm Warren Hatter, and the lovely man pictured above is my Dad, Owen, who died at the end of April 2022, leaving us all so much worse off without him. He was the kindest, nicest person. And if you've been pointed to this page, then you probably already know that.
I was inspired by the avalanche of lovely things people have said about Dad to do something in his memory that will make a positive difference. I ran the Brighton Half Marathon in 2023 in his memory, having never previously run more than 5km (that's 3 miles and 188 yards in old money), and now I'm doing it again: the Brighton Half 2024 on 24 February.
I'm still raising money for the hospice movement because it's so important, and - as has always been the case - hospices mostly exist from fundraising, donations and legacies (I'm leaving some for them in my will too).
Please donate what you can, but not at the expense of other important things. I know that, in these tough times, lots of us are giving any leftover funds to the foodbanks that are saving lives right now - don't stop doing that! But do give what you can, and I'll do my best for you, and for Dad.
(PS the only way to raise funds for both Brighton's and Hastings's hospices at the same time was to set up this 'team'. The team is just me. Could you please try to keep the two funds as equal as possible? It's not a competition between my Hastings folks and Brighton folks!)
