Story
For years the country of Palestine has been suffering from a humanitarian crisis, which is still ongoing to this day. Since the 7th of October, over 10,000 people have been killed in Gaza, including over 4,000 children and over 2,000 women. The stats and figures we see online are not numbers, these are human lives. Homes, schools and hospitals have been destroyed. Palestinians have been stripped of water, electricity and food. Over 1.5 million people have been displaced. The ongoing occupation has become a genocide and Gaza needs our help more than ever.
The University of Manchester’s ‘Friends of Palestine’ have come together to organise a Winter Charity Hike, whereby all donations will go to Action for Humanity, to Insha’Allah provide aid to Gaza. Though we all feel helpless towards the situation in Gaza, Allah states in the Quran, ‘Do not falter or grieve, for you will have the upper hand, if you are ˹true˺ believers’ (3:139). So let us remind ourselves of this and unite in solidarity for our Palestinian brothers and sisters.
It is also stated in the Quran that, ‘O believers, give of what We have provided for you ’ (2:254). So be amongst those whose charitable actions make a difference for those in need, and be rewarded for your generosity in this life and the next.
The hike will take place in the beautiful Lake District, however if you are unable to make it, we still encourage you to please consider donating and sharing our page.
JazakAllah Khair :)
