Story

We completed the month with a walk from Ford, taking in the beautiful church at Ford over looking the Cheviot Hills. Along to Heatherslaw Mill and gathering at the Lavender Cafe, Etal for a celebration lunch. We are amazed and grateful for the kind generousity of people. For those people who shared their names and those who wished to remain anonymous. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts .

We know the money with the help of Christian Aid partners around the world, help to make a difference to those communities and individuals coping with the Climate Crisis.

The Team got together today 17th May for a joint walk from our church St. John the Baptist, Lowick to Hunting Hall Farm. The path we took follows the old pilgrim route to Holy Island. Fitting for our Challenge and great to walk together for our 10,000 + steps of the day

Charlotte, Diane, Gill & Polly from Lowick Parish Churches are taking 300,000 steps in the month of May to turn hunger into hope. Every step we take could help restore justice to our world.

Our team is growing with Polly joining us to set the pace for the coming month. We are all members of St. John's the Baptist Church, Lowick. We are representing the churches of Ancroft, Etal, Ford, and Lowick with Kyloe and we are delighted to be joined by our Priest in Charge, Charlotte Osborn.

Although we will largely be walking on our own, we plan to have at least 1-2 team walks and are blessed with some fantastic walks within our parish in rural North Northumberland.

Diane & Star 1st May clocked up 22,500 steps on a walk to Slainsfield, Cheviot Tap.

Gill & Diane with our dogs Missy, Star and Bonnie adding to our steps on day 3 of the challenge. Our walk to St Cuthbert's Cave on the pilgrim route St Cuthbert's Way from Melrose to Holy Island.

With every step, every gift, every prayer, we're determined to help people around the world change their lives for good.

For the first time in a generation, global poverty is rising. Covid-19, conflict, and the climate crisis are pushing more of our global neighbours into a struggle for survival.

For Jessica, a loving mum in Zimbabwe drought means every day is a struggle for survival. Like many women, she toils on her farm, but no food can grow on her ashen dry land.

Every step we take this May could help people like Jessica fight hunger: from sowing drought-resistant seeds, to building a storeroom to help her family bounce back from future droughts.

Please give today, and help us turn hunger into hope.

Thank you.
