Story
Tuesday 11th April 2017 our perfect little world changed forever. After weeks of tests, surgery and prodding we were called into a little room where we knew the news was not good. Hearing the words cancer and seeing your pride and joy suffering is the most painful thing in the world - but not as painful as what we knew our precious little boy was going through.
Finnley was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of cancer called Anaplastic Large Cell Lymphoma. Learning that only 10 children in the U.K. were diagnosed each year was a worrying statistic but hearing that there was a treatment protocol available for him was something we will forever be grateful for.
Although he needed one of the most intensive treatment protocals, 12x more intensive than most chemotherapies, we cannot put into words how grateful we are for all the work that goes on behind the scenes for finding an overall 90% cure rate for ALCL.
It is for this reason that we aim to raise as much money as possible to ensure more research is done to cure more cases of childhood cancer and develop the treatment so it is less painful for their little bodies.
As an in patient at Addenbrooks Hospital we have met some lovely families, some that potentially have a longer fight than us, some with odds stacked up against them and sadly some that have lost their child to this awful disease. This makes it even more important to help raise money in order to provide more research and funding specifically for Children with Cancer so that we can help find a better outlook for everyone and through the use of less gruelling treatment protocols.
Finnley is responding very well to treatment and although like all cancers it is a long road to full recovery - we are hoping he has got past the toughest part. He has been an absolute warrior in true Finnley style, we will be forever reminding him how brave and inspirational he is....
10 children are diagnosed with cancer every day. For ever £100 donated to Cancer Research only £3 goes to Children's Cancer. Please donate whatever you can - it really will save young lives.
Many thanks
