Story
Join us on Wednesday 27th November for a fundraising concert in aid of The National Literacy Trust, The Choir With No Name, St Mungo’s and Read Easy Hackney, four brilliant charities dedicated to improving the lives of people of all ages and backgrounds across London and the UK.
All donations – however big or small – make a huge difference to the way these charities operate and the number of people whose lives they can touch, and are eligible for Gift Aid at an additional 25% of any sum given.
Please scroll down for more information on each of the causes we’re collecting for, and please join us as we raise a glass to 19 years of PRH at the Strand.

Our Charities:
National Literacy Trust: As the leading authority on literacy, National Literacy Trust is committed to improving the reading, writing, speaking and listening skills of children, young people and families in the UK’s poorest communities. The National Literacy Trust supports schools by providing programmes, training and resources. The National Literacy Trust invest in sector-leading research and analysis to make literacy and reading for pleasure priorities for government.
The Choir With No Name: a choir made up entirely of currently and formerly homeless people across London. The charity’s aim is to help marginalised people to make friends, build their confidence and find their place in society. They come together every week throughout the year to share a meal, practice and perform.
St Mungo’s: For nearly 50 years, St Mungo’s has been at the forefront of efforts to tackle homelessness. Each night our 17 outreach teams go out to help people sleeping rough to move away from the streets, and we provide a bed and support to over 2,800 people. We work to prevent homelessness and support people at every step of their recovery from homelessness.
Read Easy Hackney: Read Easy Hackney is a small, rapidly-expanding community-led group whose purpose is to teach adults to learn to read by offering one-to-one tuition. It is estimated that 15% (that is over 5 million) of adults in England are functionally illiterate (i.e. have a reading age at or below that of an 11-year old), and that around 2.4 million adults around us in the UK either can’t read at all or struggle with this most basic requirement for everyday life. Read Easy Hackney is tackling this problem locally head on.
