Story
Still today, half a billion of the worlds illiterate adults are women. This trend has not changed in 20 years. We know that during conflict, girls are 2.5 times more likely to drop out of school than boys are and 48% of girls who are out-of-school today are unlikely to ever enrol in school.
My mother and I are Ballardong Noongar women from Western Australia who believe that education is freedom to choose.
We love the outdoors and travelling, and are keen to support and assist where possible, other women, who want to pursue education and live their best lives.
Barb has completed many degrees through university and has found in her experience that women and girls struggle to seek educational opportunity for various reasons, be that social, political, economic. "...education has set me free. I now live the life that I want, on my own terms, and in my own way. I am passionate about education, particularly for women and girls." - Barb
Renee has been working her whole life to become a pilot, studied hard in high school and was lucky enough to get accepted with a scholarship to attend an aviation college. She picked up a pilot job in her late 20s which she did for 5 years. "...I loved every minute of it. I would not have gotten to this point without education and the support of my family throughout my search for this career." - Renee
We will be going on a Trek for Rights 2024 to raise funds for the UN Womens Second Education Program.
