Story
I'm taking part in the March Dog Walking Challenge to support families facing dementia.
We are doing this in memory of my father Alwyn who passed away last October after a few years with Dementia. My family want to spend the month of March with a target of 400k of collective walking (with the dogs as much as possible)!
Dementia UK is the specialist dementia nurse charity. Their nurses, called Admiral Nurses, provide life-changing care to families affected by all forms of dementia, including Alzheimers disease. They help people with dementia stay independent for longer, and support the people caring for them so they have the strength to cope with the bad days, and the energy to enjoy the good days. They have the time to listen and the knowledge to solve problems, helping families take back control when they are struggling.
My father's dementia resulted in him losing his ability to speak and communicate with others. That was tough for him and all those around him. Without the support of carers, this would have been a far greater struggle for us all.
