Story
Following the success of last years '30K in a day' hike, (which actually ended up being just short of 35K!) we have decided to put ourselves through our paces yet again, with more people taking part to help raise money for our much needed cause.
I feel very honoured to be able to say that I am part of the Fairplay team working as the HR Officer. I witness on a daily basis the outstanding work that goes on. I know the staff team well and having worked within the health and social care sector for some years I can hand on heart say that the care given by our staff is exceptional.
Fairplay supports children and young people with disabilities and additional needs, and their families, across North Derbyshire.
We offer a wide range of services to meet the needs of families. We offer support to children and young people, aged 0-30, and to parents and siblings. We run play schemes and Saturday clubs for children, youth clubs, activity days, themed groups, and independent living groups for young people, and parent support groups and family trips for parents and siblings.
At Fairplay we provide a home based care service for children with complex health care needs that may be life-threatening or life-limiting. We provide a child-centred flexible service that meets the needs of the child and their family.
Fairplay gives families the support that they need, and gives opportunities to take part in positive experiences that make a real difference to their lives. We enable parents to have valuable respite including 24 hour care and we give children and young people the opportunity to develop a wide range of life skills.
This years '30K in a day' sponsored hike will take place on Friday 25th August starting from Coniston in the Lake District. Although we will be fortunate enough to take in some stunning scenery, this gruelling 18.5 miles hike will include hiking up and reaching the summit of 7 fells!!
We will be tackling: The Old Man of Coniston, Grey Friar, Crinkle Crags, Great Knott, Pike of Blisco, Little Carrs and Wetherlam - we'll reach 859m elevation at our highest point......... it's not going to be easy work but considering the difficulties some of the families that we support face, it seems like a walk in the park.
Please help us raise much needed funds by sponsoring us for this event - even if you sponsor us £1, every penny really does count.
Thank you
