I am doing the Everest at Home Challenge (climbing 52,047 steps) to raise money for two charities, The Gurkha Welfare Trust and Age UK.

I am currently serving in the Brigade of Gurkhas and I have recently returned from Nepal where I saw first hand the work the GURKHA WELFARE TRUST do caring for Gurkha veterans and their families. It was both inspiring and compelling and left me eager to help. Upon returning to the UK it was clear the elderly are suffering disproportionately and that the work AGE UK do is more vital now than ever.
Both charities have been severely affected by the pandemic. Donations have reduced and in Nepal the GWT have had to pause projects across the country.
They fought for us, now we must fight for them.
In order to raise money for both of these fantastic causes, my challenge is to climb the height of Sagarmatha (Mt Everest) 8,848m at home in under 30 hours. This will be 52,047 individual steps and over 400 times up the entire flight of stairs, over 13 times per hour.
