We support those with a learning disability to make lasting social connections

Story

We’re at it again! Equal Futures’ Team is back at the start line, hamstrings stretched, and the pleats in our kilts looking as sharp as ever!

This year we’re fundraising and walking as a team, because life is better lived together. When you sponsor our team, or a team member, you’re helping us create better lives together. Many people with a learning disability and autism can struggle to make friends, this not only leads to social isolation, but also creates an absence of opportunities to be active in their community and do things they really want to do.

Our answer to this, is to pair likeminded volunteers with people we support, provide guidance and opportunities, and nurture that pairing into a natural, lifelong friendship. Using our Circles of Support method, we create a tight-knit group of people to aid and encourage the person being supported towards being self-sustaining.

With their new bestie, and their team of life-long cheerleaders, any person with a learning disability can develop a personal plan for their future, work on their goals, and achieve their dreams!

So, what are you waiting for? Choose a walker to sponsor, or give the whole team a boost, and make someone’s future more equal!
