Story
For the 3rd year in a row, Ella and I wanted to do something to raise money for charity and have chosen to complete the Lindfield Village 5k run to raise money for 2 different charities on behalf of 2 very special people:
1. Cancer Research in memory of John Beaton who passed away in February this year after a short battle with cancer.
2. University Hospitals Dorset NHS Charity who cared for Matt Chinery after he had a stroke in June 2022. Here’s Matt on the Walkabot.
Some words from Matt:
My stroke was like learning everything again - one side of me working every day to lead a normal life again. My early time was invaluable, nay a godsend, by the hospital and the Walkabot. For 3 months, working my voice, my leg and my arm setting me up for doing it on my own. I am still working on it after nearly a year, but it gets easier every day - partly due to the foundation the doctor, nurses, psychologists, physicians and their equipment meant I had a running-start. The other part is the people i’d known (like Jo) and colleagues who’ll make me, every day matter to them , the team, and the work I do.
**** PLEASE NOTE **** Just Giving won’t automatically split your donation between the 2 charities - if you want to support both charities you will need to click each link separately and make 2 individual donations to do this - it’s a quirk of this site, sorry! Thank you so much for supporting us in raising funds for both charities.
Please click either of the “donate” buttons at the bottom of this team page to donate to your preferred charity:

Bottom link for University Hospitals Dorset ONLY
