Early December, I was diagnosed with breast cancer.

My wonderful husband hasn’t been able to come to a single appointment with me. Not the one where they told me the devastating news, nor when I went for my operation just before Christmas. He won’t be able to hold my hand through chemo and encourage me to keep the dreaded cold cap on.

My beautiful girls want to give me their hair, so together with mine being cut short, we can get a wig made, so it is ready if I do need one. If by a miracle I keep my hair we will give the wig to someone who needs it.

We are asking for sponsorship to be shared between the Royal Marsden and Montgomery Heights (the orphanage in Zimbabwe we visited a few years ago and will always be in our hearts). To somehow see others helped would make this journey a little less painful for me.

I fully appreciate most people have been hit financially by covid and lots of charities are suffering as a result, so please do not feel pressure to give. If you do, unfortunately Just giving won't allow one donation to be split between charities so please just chose whichever charity you would like to support. Many thanks.

Alicia's story:

Two years ago, I decided I wanted to give my hair to the Little Princess trust, little did I know that two years later, I’ll be doing that for my mum.

Cancer was one of my biggest fears, if me or close family or a friend got it, the thought terrified me. Watching films, with cancer as its main subject, gave me a massive fear of it.

With cancer, the whole unknown of it gives me a tense feeling, waiting for the day that we get the results.

I have learned so much from this experience, it has really made me appreciate what I have; the small and the big things in life, as you never know when it can all change.
